the
CARRIAGE HOUSE
EDITORIAL
Summer in the countryside of Bohemia is punctuated by
Nostalgia.
For us it’s the scent of leather oil, mist draped mornings with the air heavy with oak moss and fresh damp earth.
It’s the scent of dusty castle corridors and fresh cut hay packing the attic of the stables.
The Carriage house shoot was developed to capture the beauty of the Kladruber horse. The Kladruber is a very old, aristocratic breed of Czech carriage horse. With their distinctive arched roman nose, beautiful lines and colouring- the Kladruber evokes romanticism of another time and another way of living.
Traditionally the Kladruber was used in carriage work, transporting nobility all over Europe. Under the communist regime the breed suffered and was threatened with near extinction.
Today they do what they did then, they are carriage horses, and can be seen in royal ceremonies in England and Denmark.
They are also used in dressage work and make for an excellent pleasure horse, due to its beautiful temperament.
